Master Automotive Technician
Role Overview
At Simple Details, we specialize in the high-end care and customization of luxury and exotic vehicles. The Master Automotive Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the mechanical precision, safety, and elite performance of every vehicle we service. This is not a traditional mechanic role — it is an opportunity for a precision-minded technician to work on irreplaceable vehicles and execute complex installations with surgical accuracy.
You will handle a wide range of services: from disassembling supercars to support paint protection film installations, to aligning modified suspensions and installing performance upgrades. You will operate as a senior technical authority on the shop floor, setting the standard for how mechanical work is performed and ensuring every vehicle that leaves your bay meets or exceeds the expectations of our clients.
Core Responsibilities
Vehicle Disassembly and Reassembly
- Safely and meticulously disassemble interior and exterior vehicle components to support paint protection film and restyling installations.
- Reinstall all components to OEM or better-than-OEM standards — zero rattles, zero gaps, zero post-service complaints.
- Conduct a pre-service vehicle inspection and document any pre-existing condition before any work begins.
Mechanical Services
- Perform oil changes, brake work, and fluid services on luxury and high-performance vehicles.
- Conduct advanced four-wheel alignments for factory specifications and custom builds.
- Mount and balance tires on high-end aftermarket wheels with zero cosmetic or structural damage.
Performance Installations
- Install bolt-on modifications including suspension systems, aero components, exhaust systems, and performance tuning solutions.
- Confirm build specifications and client expectations with the service team before any modification work begins.
- Troubleshoot fitment issues and resolve them correctly — every time.
Shop Leadership and Standards
- Set and uphold the technical standard for the Performance Department.
- Support and provide guidance to the Technician II where needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace and contribute to shop-wide cleanliness standards.
- Assist with inventory checks, tool maintenance, and material handling as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
- 3+ years of professional experience as an automotive technician, with demonstrated experience in performance, customization, or luxury vehicle environments.
- Proficient in tire mounting, wheel balancing, and four-wheel alignment — Hunter machine experience preferred.
- Demonstrated skill in disassembling and reassembling vehicle body panels, trim, and interiors with precision on high-value vehicles.
- Capable of installing suspension systems, exhausts, intakes, and other bolt-on modifications confidently and correctly.
- Must own a complete set of hand tools and specialty tools relevant to the role.
- Strong mechanical knowledge across a range of vehicle systems.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record — you will be operating client vehicles.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Available to work full-time, on-site in Virginia Beach, VA.
Preferred
- Direct experience working on exotic brands — Porsche, McLaren, Ferrari, Lamborghini, and similar.
- Familiarity with PPF or vinyl wrap processes.
- ASE Certification or OEM factory training.
Ideal Candidate Profile
This role is for you if you:
- Have spent 3+ years in a professional shop and are fully comfortable on luxury, exotic, and performance vehicles.
- Operate with precision on every job — whether it is mounting a $10,000 wheel or reinstalling a delicate sensor, you do not cut corners.
- Show up on time, own your work, and hold yourself to a high standard without needing to be managed.
- Can speak professionally with clients when needed and represent the Simple Details brand with confidence.
- Work well alongside detailers, PPF installers, and operations staff — communication is proactive and respectful.
- Treat the shop like it is your own — tools returned, workspace clean, and every vehicle rolled out with pride.
- Want more than a job. You want a team, a standard of excellence, and a place to grow.
This role is not for you if you:
- Have limited experience with high-value or exotic vehicles.
- Cut corners or treat precision as optional.
- Struggle with accountability or require close supervision to perform consistently.
- Are uncomfortable with the pressure and responsibility that comes with working on irreplaceable vehicles.
