Role Overview
As a Paint Protection Film Installer at Simple Details, you will perform advanced and complex film installations with exceptional craftsmanship and precision. Core Responsibilities
Vehicle Preparation
- Prepare vehicle surfaces meticulously, including cleaning and decontamination prior to installation — this step is owned entirely by the installer, without exception.
- Perform a full pre-installation vehicle inspection and document any pre-existing paint defects before work begins.
Disassembly and Reassembly
- Perform the minimal disassembly and reassembly required for proper film installation, including the removal of trim, moldings, and panels where necessary.
- Handle all vehicle components with care proportional to their value. All removed parts must be staged safely, tracked, and reinstalled correctly.
- Flag any component that cannot be safely removed or reinstalled without risk and escalate to the department lead before proceeding.
Film Installation
- Install paint protection film with exceptional attention to edge finishing, coverage consistency, and contamination prevention.
- Follow all company SOPs precisely to maintain quality consistency.
- Conduct thorough quality control inspections of your own work before any vehicle is cleared for final review or client delivery.
Quality and Accountability
- Maintain a clean, organized work environment and adhere to safety best practices at all times.
- Minimize material waste and maintain usage within acceptable thresholds as tracked via the DAP system.
- Collaborate with detailing, ceramic coating, and other departments to optimize job flow and timely completion.
Requirements
- Some professional experience in paint protection film installation — whether through direct work, apprenticeship, or documented training. More experienced installers with a portfolio of full-vehicle or complex work are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to executing work to stringent standards.
- Ability to perform minimal disassembly and reassembly safely and correctly.
- Physically able to stand for extended periods, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and proficient use of hand tools.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Willingness and availability to work full-time, on-site in Virginia Beach, VA.
