Technician II
Performance Department | Virginia Beach, VA | Full-Time, On-Site 1-3 years of experience with a required ASE Certification. Ready to grow your skills in a high-end environment alongside an experienced technical team.
Role Overview
As a Technician II at Simple Details, you will support the Performance Department in delivering precision mechanical services on luxury and high-performance vehicles. You will handle a range of essential shop services independently while working alongside our Master Automotive Technician on more complex builds and installations.
This role is built for a technician who has established their foundational skills, holds a current professional certification, and is ready to take the next step — working on vehicles that demand more, in an environment that will push your craft forward. What sets our top performers apart is not just what they know when they arrive, but how quickly they grow once they are here.
Core Responsibilities
Vehicle Disassembly and Reassembly
- Assist with the disassembly and reassembly of interior and exterior vehicle components to support paint protection film and restyling installations.
- Handle all vehicle components with care proportional to their value — every part staged safely, tracked, and reinstalled correctly.
- Conduct a pre-service vehicle inspection and document any pre-existing conditions before work begins.
Mechanical Services
- Perform oil changes, brake services, and fluid flushes on luxury and high-performance vehicles.
- Mount and balance tires on high-end aftermarket wheels with precision and zero damage to wheel surfaces.
- Support four-wheel alignment services under the direction of the Master Automotive Technician.
Performance Installation Support
- Assist with bolt-on performance installations including suspension components, exhaust systems, aero parts, and related modifications.
- Follow all installation procedures and check in with the Master Technician at defined points before proceeding on unfamiliar work.
- Flag fitment issues or concerns proactively rather than improvising on high-value vehicles.
Shop Support and Standards
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace and contribute to shop-wide cleanliness and safety standards.
- Assist with inventory checks, tool maintenance, and material handling as needed.
- Actively engage in learning opportunities on the shop floor — this role is a step on a defined career path.
Requirements
- 1-3 years of professional experience as an automotive technician in a shop environment.
- ASE Certification is required — candidates without a current, valid ASE Certification will not be considered.
- Ability to perform oil changes, brake services, and fluid services independently and correctly.
- Experience with tire mounting and wheel balancing — comfort working around high-end aftermarket wheels required.
- Basic familiarity with bolt-on performance modifications and vehicle disassembly.
- Must own a foundational set of hand tools relevant to the role.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to performing every task to a high standard.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record — you will be operating client vehicles.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Available to work full-time, on-site in Virginia Beach, VA.
Requirements
- Any exposure to luxury, performance, or exotic vehicle environments.
- Familiarity with alignment equipment or performance installation procedures.
- OEM factory training or additional automotive coursework.
Ideal Candidate
This role is for you if you:
- Have 1-3 years in a professional shop, hold a current ASE Certification, and are ready to level up in a high-end environment.
- Take pride in your work and hold yourself to a standard that does not change based on how visible the job is.
- Are coachable, take direction well, and actively look for ways to build your skill set.
- Understand that working alongside a Master Technician on exotic vehicles is an opportunity — and treat it accordingly.
- Communicate early when something is unclear rather than guessing on a vehicle worth more than most people's homes.
- Show up on time, follow through on every task, and leave the shop better than you found it.
This role is not for you if you:
- Do not hold a current, valid ASE Certification.
- Are not yet comfortable performing basic mechanical services independently.
- Treat check-ins and oversight as a burden rather than part of working on high-value vehicles responsibly.
- Cut corners or let quality slide when no one is watching.
- Are uncomfortable in a fast-paced shop environment where the margin for error is low.
